Job Description
ABOUT YOUR ROLE:
The Operational Excellence Leader is an expert level, hands on role that leads the establishment of lean principles and practices for shop floor manufacturing. This includes an operating system for daily, weekly, and monthly practices that ensures continuous improvement of capabilities and performance results.
The Operational Excellence Leader provides leadership and hands-on work with manufacturing site teams to ensure capabilities for:
Global standards for manufacturing processes and KPI’s, establishment and compliance to SOP’s
Proactively seeing and solving problems
Continuous improvement of manufacturing performance
Ongoing improvement plans and actions
This role supports all Aftermarket manufacturing sites in North America and Europe, with focus at specific sites and areas during given time periods.
Key responsibility focus areas will include:
Establishing priority SOP’s
Establishing standard KPI’s
Management system practices:
Managing for Daily Improvement process (MDI) that includes:
Leader standardized work (“gemba”)
Daily accountability
Visual controls
Abnormality management
Weekly management practices: ongoing performance management, problem solving and improvement projects
Monthly management processes - strategy alignment, communications
Primary success metrics are to support improvement of:
Ongoing Safety, Service, Quality, and Productivity
Employee intensity
Manufacturing lead time
Working capital
Footprint efficiency
Qualifications
Critical skill and capability areas for the role:
Shop floor manufacturing experience
Lean principles and practices - strong understanding and practical applications experience
Influence leadership
Effective collaboration with team members at all levels
Excellent verbal and written communications with others, across all levels of the organization
Project management
Basic business acumen
Ability to work and manage multiple projects with limited direct supervision
Ability to travel when required to work at manufacturing locations
EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or commensurate training and work experience
Minimum 5 years related work experience - in manufacturing operations, technologies, problem solving and process improvements
